Pradesh needs to accelerate its pace in transforming
itself into a Modern State. Economic
Development Policy emphasises
the need for intensifying efforts
to achieve development both in the economic and the social spheres. Only
then can the state realise
its full economic potential and the weakest and the most backward become
active participants in the development process.
While
rapid economic growth addresses social development, market forces alone
cannot be relied upon to correct historical inequalities. The Economic
Development Policy emphasizes the combination of high growth
strategies with poverty reducing and equity enhancing policies.
